We were running late this morning, there was a bathroom incident, so I took a short cut to my parking spot at work, which meant for a short stretch I had to drive against the arrows. Unfortunately, as I was coming around a corner another car was coming the other way. I had to brake and swerve suddenly, and as a result I scraped the side of my car against a concrete pillar. The bloke in the other car pulled over and stopped. It was Breadstick. When he saw we were both OK, all he said was, in his gorgeous French accent, ‘You are goeeng zee wrong way. Didn’t you zee zee arrowz?’
Yes, Breadstick, I did. Thanks so much for being so helpful and pointing that out. And you could look at me when you are saying that, instead of ogling Agnes. That’s right, he ogled Agnes.
The car is still driveable, but now I’m going to have to have it repaired. I hope I paid my insurance this year.
It didn’t seem to spoil Agnes’s day, though. She was bright and chirpy at work as usual, with everyone fussing over her. I know I should be happy for her, but I never thought she’d learn to fish this well, and so quickly. I think I’m in danger of her catching some of my fish. I don’t know what her secret is to being so attractive. I think it’s not trying to be attractive, just happy. Also, I’ve noticed, she’s very good at listening to people and empathising with their troubles, but I’ve never heard her offer any advice, and that seems to work for her.
On the other hand, when I told everyone about my prang, they all felt compelled to advise me. They nearly all said, ‘You know your car is never quite the same when you get it back from the panel beaters’. Thanks everyone.
When I rang my insurance company, they instructed me to take my car somewhere miles away on Tuesday to have the damage assessed.
