Saturday 8 August

Agnes asked me if she could use my laptop again today, as she had some work to catch up on. Really? She spent hours on it, fiddling about with WORD and Excel and sending emails. Who can she possibly be emailing? I didn’t like to ask.

So, as I was without my laptop or anyone to play with, I decided to visit Grandpa to see how he was doing. As I was passing through the common area I noticed Bill, sitting in his favourite chair nursing a small jug of milk. He tries to strangle anyone else who sits in that chair. Then there was Thora, who never knows where she is, and mutters, ‘Yeah, that’s right, love, yeah, yeah, with his foot love, yeah…’, and Irene, who was shuffling around the perimeter of the room, following Hazel. Arrived at Grandpa’s room to find him sitting by the bed as usual, this time with three shirts on over his pyjama top. When I asked him how he was, he replied he was hot. Grandpa told me that Laura had a stroke yesterday and an ambulance came and got her. He said she’s back now and comes into his room and chatters for ages, saying ‘Oh yes, yes, sorry, sorry’ and it’s driving him mad. He said he wished she’d go and talk to Thora, and then they could both see what it was like. I can’t see how Laura could be back today after having a stroke yesterday. Maybe Grandpa has his days mixed up as well as his clothes.
