Monday 10 August

Agnes asked me if she could join in on my session with Susan today. Well, I couldn’t say no, could I?

Susan’s message to Agnes and me today was that the important thing at work and in life in general is to make decisions, own the consequences (whether they be good, bad or indifferent) and move on to making more decisions. (Apparently, it’s fun!)

We’re not to agonise over every decision we’ve made, and we aren’t to let a few bad outcomes intimidate us into stopping being decision makers.

Also, if Agnes nor I aren’t competent at something or other, that doesn’t mean we are lesser persons. It’s just that we haven’t learned those skills. She said it’s like learning to drive a car. If you’re happy not driving, fine. But, if you want to drive, you have to go through a process whereby others see you crashing the gears at times. Then, once you are competent, you wonder what the fuss was about. I can see I’ll be paying for driving lessons for Agnes soon. Maybe she can already drive. She probably can. I’ve never asked her. I’m glad she didn’t mention to Susan about my little prang on Friday.

Agnes went away fired up. I’ve never seen her like that. I’m dreading what decisions she’s going to start making.
