Not a good day today. On the way in to work a car came really close to me and I clipped the curb and fell off my bike. Luckily the car behind me stopped in time, so I wasn’t actually killed, as you can see. The young bloke got out of the car quite concerned. When he decided I wasn’t badly hurt, although knee and elbow scraped and bleeding, he thought it would be helpful to tell me that right on the other side of the curb that I clipped was a cycleway that I would be much safer riding on. I said thanks, but I prefer the road, there’s no law against it, so then he asked me how that was working out for me.
So, picked myself up, with the aid of the young bloke, he was quite dishy, actually, (slate-grey eyes), apart from being a smart arse, and completed my journey without incident. When I got to work, I left my bike downstairs and snuck in and cleaned myself up before anyone saw me. I didn’t think there was any point telling everyone what had happened. Couldn’t stand the helpful advice.
I managed to ride home mostly along the bike path, squeaking and ringing my bell and dodging walkers, joggers, scooters, skateboards and other bikes, but at least I didn’t fall off again.
There is no way I’m going to Pilates tonight.
I’ll need to buy some more wine tomorrow.
