Ubered into work without incident this morning. Thankfully, I didn’t have to face A&B in the lift while carting all my supplies into the office.
Had a session with Susan today (on my own), which was really good. I find it ironic that it’s often the successful women who’ve worked hard and have achieved highly who keep giving other women built-in excuses for failure, such as they are hard done by and are being discriminated against, instead of telling them to pull their fingers out and work like they did. Do they do it on purpose to keep the rest of us down? Well, it seems to be working. I’m glad Susan isn’t like that. At least I get something I can work with from her.
Anyway, a few of her thoughts were about doing your best to respect the people you work with, and to remember they have lives outside of work, which may include people who they want to be proud of them. I’m to try to say good morning first thing to people I may interact with later in the day, especially people who I anticipate doing battle with. I should try to meet face to face with people whom I deal remotely, such as by email or telephone, at least once. Also, to take care with the presentation of my emails (main point first up, new line for each point, keep it professional, etc.), as sometimes it’s the only way others know me.
All good stuff I suppose, but not as life changing as some of her earlier sessions.
After work I rode home, shaking my fist at any cars that dared come within a metre of me, but much more comfortable in my walking gear. I felt quite virtuous when I arrived at my front door still alive. Polished off half a bottle of red to celebrate.
Still missing Agnes and Ductile.
