Monday 21 September

No mentoring session with Susan today.

Stuart wasn’t in today, as he and Patricia have gone to Broome for a few days, for a break, so he says. I don’t know how they’re going to have a break if both of them went. They must think shouting at each other in Broome will be a break from shouting at each other here.

Anyway, as the boss was away, I nicked off early, came home, sat on the couch and stared at the TV. I didn’t even have the energy or the inclination to switch it on. Feeling a bit down at present.

When I did finally turn the TV on, the first thing I saw was this discussion by earnest people about how there should be more encouragement for girls to play football, as there isn’t exactly 50% participation by each gender. The panellists seemed to be as serious, single-minded and logical as those terrorists with long beards and dressed in kaftans. Ronald and Susan have turned my thinking through 360 degrees on things like this. No, wait a minute, through 180 degrees. Ninety degrees each. Not sure if that’s good or bad. I now change the genders when I hear these statements and then check what my opinion is. The (truly) liberated me now couldn’t help wondering if the program next week will be a passionate discussion about encouraging boys to play netball owing to the statistical imbalance. I wonder how Michael Jordan would have done at mixed netball. I expect he would have kept stepping.
