Friday 31 July

Norman told me at work today that Perry had been talking to one of the investors, Richard Allcock (?), and that Perry had told Dick how hopeless I was at my job, and also that I wasn’t to be trusted. So, it’s not only Stuart who’s copping it. What on earth am I going to do about that? Ring Dick and tell him that I am good at my job and am to be trusted? It was upsetting, to say the least.

Norman spent a lot of time with Agnes today, showing her the ins and outs of our cash-flow spread sheets. He told me that she catches on really quickly, and that she actually showed him a couple of tricks, something to do with subtracting dates or something (didn’t know you could do that). Twice during the day, he made her a coffee and took it to her at her desk. Excuse me, but where’s mine? Remember me? Maybe it’s because I’m hopeless at my job.

Towards the end of the day, he did make me a coffee, and brought it to me and fussed over me. I thought he must have realised he’d been neglecting me in favour of Agnes. Then, on the way home, Agnes told me that she’d let it slip what her recent history was and how I’d taken her in a few months ago. She said he was impressed, which I think explains the late-in-the day coffee. Yes, I think I have done something good, haven’t I?
